If you were to ask me where my favorite brunch spot is right now, I will tell you Agave. Unlike PS450 and IL Bastardo, Agave isn't really known as a "party" brunch. Agave is more of the "clear your schedule for the rest of the day and get ready for the best unlimited margaritas in Tequila town". Just like PS450, I was introduced to Agave by two girlfriends of mine who invited me out for brunch. Agave is located in West Village and is especially great for the spring and summer because of the optional outside seating. Unfortunately I first visited in the winter of 2015 so outside seating was not an option. Because my friends and I made reservations weeks before (Which is HIGHLY suggested), we were able to be seated in a timely manner. Shortly after we were seated, our waiter handed us menus and made a few suggestions and recommendations. Little did he know, my friends were frequent visitors and already recited the whole menu and raved about their infamous unlimited margaritas prior to getting there. The menu offered Mexican/American brunch options like Southwestern Eggs Benedicts, Lobster Eggs Benedicts, Egg white Frittata, & Cinnamon Brioche French Toast. Although the individual brunch items vary in pricing, the unlimited brunch prefixed menu is $32.95 per person or PP ($39.95 for Large Groups). This also includes unlimited Mimosas, Wine, and House Margaritas. I scanned through the menu pretending that I was having a hard time ordering, knowing damn well that I already knew what I was ordering before I even sat down. I ordered the Sunrise Fiesta Burrito (which he mentioned was the most ordered item) and my two girlfriends both ordered the Lobster Benedict. We also ordered their homemade guacamole and fried calamari for the table to share. You would have thought both the waitress and cooks knew what we were eating because the food came out much quicker than expected. We were still working on the starters when our entrees popped up. Needless to say, everything we had was AMAZING!!! The guacamole was the best guac I have had in NY, and although I’m not a huge fan of Calamari, I couldn’t get enough of it. And lastly I found out why the Burrito was the most popular item on the menu; it was heavenly!! Now let’s get back to the Unlimited drinks. I was tired of the traditional Mimosas or Bellini's so I decided to go with the infamous house margarita that my friends raved about. I had two margaritas on the rocks before my entree and was already tipsy. I assumed the burrito would soak up the alcohol so I had one more with my entree and another after. HUGE MISTAKE. Now let me say this. I am in no way shape or form considered a "light weight." I can drink with the best of them so I was very confused and taken back at how intoxicated and giggly I felt after those 4 margaritas (haha). Needless to say, I REALLY enjoyed myself at Agave. I have been there 1 other time after my first time because of the lack of availability and wanting to try new brunch places. So far, Agave still stands at number 1, as my favorite bottomless brunch spot in NY.
